Youth work @ Y-Linx

Staff and volunteers at our youth project, based in the community of Pendeford, are committed to working with young people to enable them to fulfil their potential and gain useful life skills.

Working in partnership with agencies in the community, YMCA offer a diverse range of group activities for young people aged 8 – 21 years.

Kool Kidz for young people aged 8-13 years offers varied weekly sessions and off site activities, e.g. go-carting and rock climbing at Wolf Mountain               Monday evenings from 6.30 – 8.30pm.

Girls’ Group open to young women aged 13-21 years the sessions aim to improve self-esteem and body image, build confidence and encourage healthy eating and fitness. From September 2010 sessions will run on Tuesday evenings 6.30 – 9.30pm

Holiday Clubs activity sessions are held most school holidays for local young people.

Kool Kidz and Girls Group are held at the Y-Linx Centre, Catisfield Crescent, Pendeford, Wolverhampton.

Peer Mentor Training for young people aged 15-21 years can undertake a 10 week accredited programme to develop their mentoring skills, this can lead to placement with the Motorbike Project or other volunteer opportunities. On successful completion you can achieve:

  • Motorbike mechanics & mentoring skills
  • YMCA Mentoring Certificate
  • Accredited hours towards ‘V’ Certificate
  • CBT Certificate/Road Licence

Mentoring training sessions are held @ Neil Docherty Education & Resource Centre (transport is available)
